Sleep Better the Nordic Way

What if improving your sleep didn’t require a full routine overhaul……but something much simpler? In many Nordic countries, couples share a bed — but not a duvet.
Each person has their own. One might prefer a thick, cosy duvet, while the other opts for something lighter and cooler. No compromise. No tug-of-war. Just individual comfort, side by side. Same bed. Better sleep.

The Overlooked Sleep Disruptor
Your duvet is one of the most common and underestimated causes of disturbed sleep.
Too hot, too cold, constantly adjusting, or being woken by someone else pulling the covers… it all fragments your sleep without you fully realising.
Over time, that can lead to:
Lower energy
Poor recovery
Irritability
And even subtle strain on relationships.

The Nordic Way: Comfort Without Compromise
What’s powerful about the Nordic approach is the mindset behind it.
Sleep is treated as individual. You stay connected - sharing a bed - but remove unnecessary disruption by tailoring your environment to your own needs.
Cooler Rooms, Better Sleep
This thinking extends beyond duvets.
Nordic bedrooms are typically kept cool, often cooler than what many people are used to, with fresh air prioritised year-round.
And then there’s one of the most well-known practices:
Babies sleeping outdoors.
Across countries like Sweden and Norway, it’s common for babies to nap outside in their prams — even in winter. Wrapped up warm, they sleep in the fresh, cold air, often more soundly than indoors.
In fact, prams are usually only brought inside when temperatures drop below around –10°C.
It might sound extreme, but the principle is simple:
Cool environments support deeper, more consistent sleep.
Small Changes, Real Impact
You don’t need to adopt everything overnight.
But small shifts can make a real difference:
Try separate duvets
Lower your bedroom temperature
Let the fresh air in
Better sleep doesn’t have to be complicated.
Sometimes, it starts with something as simple as your duvet.
